I use VelcroŽ (beige to match console) to attach (almost) everything to the monitor:  lamps, timer, calculator, TV Remote, telephone, mouse cord.  Always put the burred strip on the fixed object (monitor), and the woolly part on the moveable object -- just like in nature, so that you have a standard for mix and match later. The woolly strip on the portable object is not going to catch on your clothes or scratch you. The woolly strip is wrapped around the mouse cord and attached to the side of the monitor about 16 inches up from the desk surface.  If it pulls off that is okay just reattach. The desk lamp and telephone rest on the top at the front so the Velcro just keeps them from moving around.   

The copy holder is hot glued to 2 inch wide transparent tape stuck on the monitor -- it doesn't budge.

Can't disagree with that.   VelcroŽ was based on actual burrs in nature.

I think that page used to be more informative about its origins,  now it seems more dedicated to protecting their trademark.

"hook-and-loop" does kind of sound like knitting terms and apparently they are...
 
The result was VELCROŽ brand hook and loop fasteners, named for the French words"velour" and "crochet."    sometime before   2000-01-30 was posted in pvt group

Nail Glue (fingernail glue)    -- fixed keyboard   2005-06-13

Base of Left Shift key broke out and was fixed by building a damn on both
sides  inside and outside) with poster putty, then pouring silica sand
into it and then a drop of Ethyl Cyanoacrylate   (fingernail glue).  Filed
of the top with a diamond nail file.  Took many tries to get all of the traces
of poster putty out, but works fine now.
