Before Verizon does an installation

If there is a next time.  Do this before installation.
  1. Lock Internet Explorer toolbars
  2. Do not turn off antispyware for Verizon installer, anything that needs to bypass security

Remove the visible damages

Remove ISP branding by typing the following into your Start, Run
  rundll32 iedkcs32.dll,BrandCleanInstallStubs
Reference:  Remove the ISP branding for Internet Explorer and Outlook Express, Ramesh Srinivasan (MVP)

Don't know if I have a picture of my IE toolbars (not even at Internet Explorer Right-Click Menus) before damages, but this is what changed them to afterwards: Don't know how to eliminate the Verizon toolbar, but at least did hide it.

*

That basically covers the visible damages.  I have not idea of what changes may have been made to my system, and that scares me, the fact that Anti-virus protection must be turn off scares me, the fact that other things get turned off that might have restored my settings scares me, the fact that I don't know if any IE options were changed scares me, the fact that I don't know if anything potentially harmful was installed scares me.

Started Tasks, Root-kits, anything unwanted (#tasks)

If they do, do you think they would tell you.  Here is the best that I can find on their own links -- Verizon Internet Security Suite -- http://www.verizon.freedom.net/support/about_viss.html

How do I stop the Verizon Servicepoint from launching at startup?

  1. Click Start > All Programs > Verizon Servicepoint > Preferences.
  2. Clear the Run on Startup check box.
  3. Click OK.
How do I stop receiving alerts temporarily?
Click Start > Programs > Verizon Servicepoint > Stop Service.

What to terminate in started tasks (my additions)

  1. Anything starting with Verizon.
  2. Internet Explorer, if not wanted most of time, iexeplorer.exe
